QAI stands for Quality Assurance International. QAI is a third-party certifier of organic food systems, ensuring compliance to the USDA’s National Organic Program.
When a product bears the QAI logo, the agency has certified that every step of the food production process – from growing the plant, to harvesting, to preparing the product, to packaging, handling, and shipping the product – meet the organic standards set out by the USDA.

Certified Organic – ICEA

ICEA, the Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute, inspects and certifies firms respectful for the environment, workers’ dignity and collective rights.

With more than 300 experts inspecting over 11 thousands firms, from its 17 branches throughout Italy and 7 abroad, ICEA is one of the most prominent inspection and certification bodies in the field of sustainable development.

ICEA’s activities support a fair and socially sustainable development that from the agriculture extend to the others organic and ecological sectors. Comprising institutions and associations promoting alternative production model, ICEA is a consortium with independent trading activity, open to anyone who shares its mission.

Certified Organic – CCPB

Controllo Biologico is an Italy-based organization recognized by the Ministry of Alimentary and Forest Agricultural Policies, and authorized to certify companies and products to Italian organic standards.

Lucini’s 36-month Stravecchio Organic Parmigiano Reggiano has been produced, packaged, and distributed to Italy’s Controllo Biologico standards and has earned the privilege of bearing the below logo mark:

BPA Free

BPA stands for bisphenol A. BPA is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins and some research has shown that BPA can seep into food or beverages from containers that are made with BPA or into your body when you handle products made with BPA.

Lucini products, including the line of gourmet sauces in heatable pouches, are made with materials that do not contain BPA and are certified BPA-free.

Non-GMO Verification Status

Lucini Italia is committed to making quality foods and to providing full visibility to our consumers on what they are consuming. Recently the state of Vermont has passed a mandatory food labeling law (Food Labeling Law Act 120 Consumer Rule 121) requiring all foods to list if they do or do not contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s). This law goes into effect for food sold after July 1, 2016.

To continue our commitment of transparency, we are working on obtaining Non GMO Project Verified certification for all Lucini Italia products. While this process takes some time, we are making revisions to all of our product labels to include a statement indicating if it does not contain or may contain GMO’s to be compliant with these rules until full verification has been completed.
